Again, we build and even suggest good 'ole "info" sites as they can be just what a business needs at any given point. But a lot of the time I hear clients say to me "why are the monthly fees for e-commerce so high!? We never paid a monthly hosting fee like this in the past! "
Well that's a great question. And the simple answer is this: Imagine opening a new store across town. The lease, the inventory, the power bill, the employee or employees, the list goes on and on.... Now imagine opening an online store where for (on the high end) a $500 monthly bill pays for everything.
It even covers rearranging the store or switching out products entirely. It includes a new billboard in front of your store every single month. It includes the manpower to manage it... and (that) list goes on and on...
See the difference?
So an e-store is a store. A website is an information bank with some bells and whistles that for the most part provides a platform for communicating with your current or perspective clients and for the most part, don't always require a lot of updating, making their monthly fees much less than an e-store. So the monthly fees are adjusted accordingly.
So just remember when you see or use your favorite e-store online, it takes A LOT more time and effort to make that transaction go down smoothly and securely than you might think. :)
